Maria Maarbjerg
Maria Maarbjerg is a Danish-born visual artist based in Dublin, working with photography and text to explore the intersections of identity, belonging, and change. My work examines how personal and collective narratives unfold within larger societal shifts, often focusing on the quiet, unspoken moments that shape human experience.

Biography
Maria Maarbjerg’s projects often return to ideas of place and memory, exploring what it means to belong at a time when cultural and national identities are continually shifting. Through solo exhibitions such as Ode to Changes (RHA, 2022) and Extended Play (Studio 1, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, 2023), she has developed immersive visual essays that respond to these concerns. Her work has been recognised through awards and residencies, including the Fire Station Residential Studio Award, the We Only Want the Earth Studio Residency at A4 Sounds Studio, and support from the Arts Council. Maarbjerg is a studio artist at The Complex, Dublin, where she exhibited Ten-to-Two in summer 2025, and later that year she exhibited at Europa Gallery with the solo exhibition Where Mountains Are Mere Hills.
